Born in Milton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland.
He participated in a single Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, driving for Ecurie Ecosse. He also competed in several non-Championship Formula One races. He was the elder brother of three-time World Driving Champion Jackie Stewart.
Stewart died in Glasgow, Scotland on January 3, 2008 at the age of 76.

Rode in a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing with Jimmie in Edinburgh, Ca.1960 - a fun ride way over the speed limit. Told me his brother was Jackie Stewart - always wondered if all true. The car certainly was. Just a memory from growing up in Edinburgh and one I never forgot.
