Porsche wins their first Can-Am race when Tony Dean drives his 908 to victory at Road Atlanta.

The best drivers were competing at Road Atlanta’s first event: Vic Elford, Denis Hulme, Peter Revson and the sole Porsche in the field, a Porsche 908/02 with race winner Tony Dean. Stirling Moss was the Grand Marshal. A huge crowd gathered to watch the most sophisticated cars of the day turn 75 laps on the brand new circuit, and Porsche take the checkered flag. The only 3.0 liter car ever to win a Can-Am race against the big blocks.

Great memories of being a 'crew member' for Tony when he ran at Mid Ohio in his 908 and later in a McLaren. Not the big-dollar / Pound type of team as he only had one regular mechanic. He enjoyed a few laps around the track here on my Triumph Bonnevile then told me what was likely wrong with the bike. Glad he had this success at Road Atlanta.
